Children must be taught to treat the hedgehog gently and safely ( for both of their sakes!

Do not let children start picking hedgehog up right after it's arrival to your home!
It needs time to explore its cage, eat and have rest! The following day you can start the process of bonding with your pet!

If this hedgehog were to fall to the floor, it would probably be mortally injured!

Hedgehogs can be very friendly. Kids love to play with them, but they must understand their responsibilities.

Even though hedgehogs are fairly good climbers, they should be supervised when they are climbing around from any great heights!

This hedgehog seems eager to be let go to explore on its own. If you do give your pet free access to any area of your home, make sure that all safety hazards have been eliminated!

The guardian parent is the one responsible for picking the hedgehog up from it's cage for the kid and placing it back carefully after each play!

Kids 5-8 years of age
(kids younger than 5 should not hold the pet in hands at all)
tend to drop the hedgehog to the floor each time it spikes.
Make sure your kid sits on the couch/bed or lays on the floor when plays with it. This way your kid will have more control over the pet and if he/she drops it accidentally the hedgehog won't be injured.
